Day 2: Butterloch Canyon, through the Upper Permian

And after a long hike, we crash out in view of the P-T boundary!

Next day, it's logging time. First the P-T boundary at Tesero.....



......... then at Tramin.

The following day brings us to Catinaccio, stunning views and geology all around....

The weather look set to turn against us, but it doesn't. Instead, Arno drives off with Henk's keys to the minibus.....

Another night's sleep, and then back up Sella pass, and thereafter with a sensational cable-cart ride up Sasso Pordoi. There are magnificent vistas when the clouds lift. 


Shortly after this, rain and sleet indicate that it's time to head back......
